DealerPrep
Where can I get DealerPrep?
DealerPrep is live on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Search "DealerPrep" or open apps.apple.com/app/dealerprep-canada-omvic/id6763830133. iPad runs the scaled iPhone layout for now; an iPad-optimised view ships in a future update.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. DealerPrep installs on iPad and runs the iPhone layout scaled up. iCloud sync keeps your progress, attempts, and revision pool in sync between iPhone and iPad. A native iPad layout is on the roadmap. Deployment target is iOS 26.2, so the device needs to run iOS 26.2 or later.
Will there be an Android version?
Not in v1. iOS first; Android comes once the iOS app is stable and the content set is mature. App Store link.
How much does it cost?
Free tier with quick quizzes, all category practice, the MVDA reference, and one full mock exam. Pro is $14.99/month or $49.99/year and unlocks all four mocks, Revision Mode, and premium themes. Single mock-exam unlocks are $14.99 each as a non-renewing alternative to Pro. Pricing last verified May 18, 2026.
Can I get a refund?
DealerPrep purchases (Pro subscriptions and single mock-exam unlocks) go through the App Store, so Apple's refund policy applies, not ours. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or via Apple's official refund guide. Apple decides; we have no ability to issue refunds on our end. For a subscription, cancelling in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions stops future renewals immediately and leaves access live until the current period ends.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes for practice. The question bank, the MVDA reference library, the OMVIC bulletins feed snapshot, and your local progress all live on-device, so quizzes and reading work offline. What needs the network: iCloud sync between iPhone and iPad, App Store purchase / subscription verification on first launch after install, and pulling fresh OMVIC bulletins. The mock exams run fully offline once unlocked.
Is DealerPrep accessible?
DealerPrep is a native SwiftUI app, so VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and the system's accessibility settings have baseline support inherited from standard iOS controls. We have not yet done a dedicated accessibility audit, so custom labels and hints are only partially set across the app. If you hit an accessibility barrier, email [email protected] and we will prioritise the fix.
Where do DealerPrep's practice questions come from?
Every question is written by us against the public source record: the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, 2002, the Code of Ethics regulation (O. Reg. 332/08), the General Regulation (O. Reg. 333/08), and current OMVIC bulletins and discipline records. Ontario legislation is reproducible under the Open Government Licence (Ontario). We do not copy OMVIC's certification course manual or any third-party study product; every question is original phrasing tied to a citation a candidate can verify.
How is DealerPrep different from UCDA's free CPD prep?
UCDA's free CPD prep is a member benefit for UCDA dealer members. It is good content and many dealers use it. DealerPrep is independent of UCDA, runs on iPhone and iPad (not browser), and is built for both members and non-members. The most direct difference: every DealerPrep question links to the exact MVDA section or OMVIC bulletin it tests, so you can drill from a wrong answer straight into the source rule. Neither product replaces OMVIC's REVS assessment on the OMVIC portal, which is the only thing OMVIC grades for CPD.
Is DealerPrep affiliated with OMVIC or Georgian College?
No. DealerPrep is an independent third-party study tool. It is not endorsed by, operated by, or affiliated with OMVIC, the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery, or Georgian College.
Certification exam
What's the difference between the OMVIC certification exam and CPD?
The Automotive Certification Course (ACC) is the one-time entry exam, written before you first register with OMVIC. CPD is the recurring renewal requirement, written every year (dealers) or every two years (salespersons) once you are already registered. ACC qualifies you to register; CPD keeps that registration current. Both pass at 80%.
What's the passing grade?
80%, which is 48 of 60 correct. OMVIC raised the pass mark from 75% on January 1, 2026 for both the Automotive Certification Course and the MVDA Key Elements Course. Some older third-party sites still list 60%; that figure is years out of date.
How long do I have to complete the course?
Twelve weeks of self-study from the date you register through Georgian College, the OMVIC delivery partner for the Automotive Certification Course.
Is the exam open book?
Yes, but only the hardcopy manual. No electronics, no notes, no apps in the room.
What happens if I fail?
You pay the course fee again (approximately $286) and re-take. There's no attempt limit. See the Automotive Certification Course page for the current Georgian College fee.
CPD renewal
Who has to do CPD?
Every Ontario dealer and salesperson with a registration renewal dated on or after July 1, 2026. Dealers renew every year; salespersons every two years. Full breakdown in the CPD FAQ deep dive.
What's the passing grade on CPD?
80%. Unlimited retakes are allowed inside the $99 REVS cycle on OMVIC's portal; content review unlocks after a failed attempt. Full breakdown in the CPD FAQ deep dive.
What does CPD cost?
$99 per CPD cycle on OMVIC's portal, no GST or HST. Grandfathered registrants (registered before January 1, 2010) pay $202.86 to Georgian College for the MVDA Key Elements Course at first renewal instead. Full breakdown in the CPD FAQ deep dive.
Does DealerPrep replace the CPD course?
No. CPD runs on OMVIC's portal and only OMVIC can issue you the credential. DealerPrep is study practice for the same underlying material. Full breakdown in the CPD FAQ deep dive.
